McCain: it's all about the Crocs

During the same Denver town meeting, McCain decried the idea of "protectionism," some of which involves protecting American jobs and workers. Obama's record on this isn't quite as clear, but he has suggested that NAFTA be reopened, and I agree with him. NAFTA has been an unmitigated disaster for American workers - jobs have been sent down south and up north, as well as all over Asia. And what do American workers have to show for it? Zilch.

Here's a sentence I write about once a decade - but I have to give credit where it's due: Ross Perot was right. I remember when he most famously said in 1992, regarding NAFTA, "That giant sucking sound you'll hear will be American jobs going south." Right on, Ross.

What's more, I disagree that Obama wants to "close off markets," as McCain asserts. Really? I'd love to know what McCain is basing that assertion on.

It's pretty funny how McCain touts that American exports are up. Yes, they are, but that's because the dollar soon won't be worth the paper it's printed on. I'm no economist, but I do know that a weak dollar is good for exports, but it's killing the economy is many other ways, most notably the price of oil, which is based on the greenback. So, the weaker the dollar is, the more expensive oil is, to a great degree.

Once again, McCain proves that he's an economic whiz. But, at least he'll have the Croc market cornered come November.
