Helen Thomas: God help us if we get Dicked

This is a pretty interesting interview by Tim Russert of Helen Thomas, a pioneer in the White House press corps. Thomas, a Hearst newspaper columnist, has covered every president since John F. Kennedy.

She's got some particularly nasty words for presidents Bush and Cheney. In true Thomas fashion, she doesn't mince words, and she hasn't since 1943, when she joined UPI.

I've read her book Front Row at the White House: My Life and Times, which was very good. She has a new book out now, Watchdogs of Democracy? : The Waning Washington Press Corps and How It Has Failed the Public, which should also be a good read.

Based on her forthrightness, and her Front Row book, I recommend this one highly. Watchdogs of Democracy was released on Tuesday.
