Fighting the War on Error

Laugh Break: the weekend's almost here!

I'll be back to the serious political discourse in a bit. I'm in a lighter mood today and in the mood to laugh, which set me in search of some funny film clips. (It's a guy thing.) Anyway, I found two three that had me almost falling out of my chair.

I know the language is coarse, but what can I say? Hollywood doesn't make very many funny G-Rated movies that I've seen lately. Anyway, you've been warned. If you think you'll be offended, don't watch 'em.

This first one if from one of the best comedies of my generation, The Big Lebowski. It's just a short clip, but it's pretty funny - it has John Goodman (check out his appearance!), John Turturro and Jeff Bridges. "Nobody fucks with the Jesus" is probably the greatest, funniest line in a film chock full of 'em. If you haven't seen this film yet, you just aren't livin'.

40-Year Old Virgin is somewhere on my Top 10 List of all-time funniest movies. The dialogue is from a scene where David and Cal are playing video games at Andy's house. The conversation quickly turns into the memorable "Know how I know you're gay?" scene, which I would argue is one of the funniest in a very funny film. Anyway, some enterprising individual put this dialogue to Batman and Superman, which, in a very strange way, just makes it funnier. Watch, enjoy, laugh your butt off, then watch it again.

Okay, I wasn't going to include this one, but it's funny enough to make the cut. It isn't as good as the other two - I guess I should have gone in order, but I'm too lazy to switch things up now.

Anyway, this is David complaining to his manager about her incessant play of a Michael McDonald DVD. "I'm going to Yah Mo burn this place to the ground," should resonate with anyone, anyone who has ever worked in retail. For instance, I quit working for Shoprite Supermarkets in the late 1990s. After working for the chain for over a decade, their Muzak channel still plays the same !@#$@%&@#@!#%$! songs! It's still the best place to shop, by far, where we live, but the music is so annoying, I will no longer shop there without my iPod - I just can't take it.

Happy Friday, everyone - woo hoo! The weekend's here - summer weekends are the best.

More political commentary coming up in a bit, and some more Stanley Cup pictures, too. And I have a lot I want to get to today, so stay tuned.
