McCain: war critics "should be thrown out of this country"

I found this a little while ago and forgot to post it, but it still certainly is apropos to the discussion of the War in Iraq. This is especially true since McSame is running as the "Iraq Candidate," as I like to call him.

The footage above is precisely what's wrong with some of the political discourse in this country. And guess what? The language like what McSame is spewing above typically comes from Republicans, too. Funny how I rarely hear Democrats telling people who disagree with them that they should be kicked out of the country, deported, etc.

To be honest, I find McCain's comments above to be quite sad. No one should ever question McCain's patriotism - I know I certainly would not - considering that he spent over five years I can't even comprehend in a North Vietnamese POW camp. But, I'd think someone who sacrificed so much for his country would understand what America and democracy are both all about - being free to express your opinions. And sometimes, in the marketplace of ideas, you're going to hear opinions that differ from your own.

If this is the type of response that Johnny Temper gives to opposition to an ill-conceived war, how will he react when he's in the Oval Office and someone disagrees with him?

It's a fair question.

Hey Senator - it's called free speech. Try it sometime.

What's more - where the hell was McCain when Dick Cheney was accusing opponents of the PATRIOT Act of "siding with the terrorists"? Funny - I didn't hear McCain's outrage then.

Where was McCain when the GOP-financed Swiftboat Veterans for Truth were stopping just short of calling John Kerry a traitor? I remember McCain saying it was "inappropriate," but he didn't display near the outrage that he displayed about a MoveOn.org ad in The New York Times.

I guess anyone who questions someone's patriotism is safe from McCain's wrath if they happen to share McCain's view on the issue in question.

Notice, too, that McCain is doing this in front of what appears to be a group of VFW members. Wow, that's pretty courageous, Senator. What's next - is he going to condemn forest fires?

I guess because I called out McCain for whipping up VFW members about an anti-war ad, I'm unpatriotic, or I should get kicked out of the country, right?

This footage is fodder for the comedy cannon.
