High gas prices are... Obama's fault?!?

I almost would not have believed this had I not seen it with my eyes and heard it with my ears. This one is completely absurd, even for John McCain.

I'm still trying to figure out how the McCain people could have possibly come to the conclusion that high gas prices are Barack Obama's fault. Because Obama (and a vast majority of other Democrats) oppose drilling on our outer continental shelf and in ANWR? That's so remarkably stupid, I don't even know where to begin.

I guess it's proof positive that all politicians in Washington (with McCain topping the list) are very frustrated that there's no way to easily capitalize on our energy crisis for some cheap votes. So, the McCain campaign has resorted to simply making shit up.

Since McCain and the Republicans have no problem repeating lies over and over, the truth bears repeating over and over: drilling in ANWR and the outer continental shelf will NOT lower gas prices, this year or even five years from now. What's more, as I blogged a few days ago, I don't hear anyone stating the blatantly obvious - even if we do drill in ANWR and the OCS, what's to stop OPEC from cutting production by the same amount in order to keep gas prices high?

I realize that all Americans are frustrated by gas prices - I know I certainly am - but the lying and finger pointing have got to stop, and working on real solutions has got to begin.

The sooner we can begin getting off of oil altogether, the better off we are going to be. There is no one magical solution that is going to solve our energy problems; we need a variety of ideas and solutions to make it happen. However, McCain's cheap blatantly misleading ad about high gas prices accomplishes nothing.

Just wondering, I don't suppose the Bush administration, with which McCain has done so much to support these past eight years, has had anything to do with high gas prices, eh?

Here's a spoof ad of the above McCain video, which uses McCain's own words against him. Sweet.

Hmm - if our energy crisis is "30 years in the making," then who's more to blame, McCain or Obama? McCain's been in Washington for 25 years, Obama less than 1/5 that time.

We really don't need another career politician in the White House.
