New Obama energy policy ad
This is a good start in combating McCain's mostly empty rhetoric about U.S. energy policy, but he needs to go much, much further. I know it's only a 30-second political ad, but I really want to hear more about solar energy, wind energy, and most of all, mass transit, a mode of transportation our federal government has willfully ignored and underfunded (to be kind) for decades.
I've been meaning to write a letter to the Obama campaign about his energy plan (or lack of a cogent one, to be precise), and I promise I'll share that with you soon.
Perhaps I'm being a bit unfair to Obama - he very well might have a sound energy plan, but so far, I haven't heard much about it. Ads like the one above are a problem for me (not that I'm in danger of voting for McCain); enough of the anti-Bush and anti-McCain stuff on energy - spend time telling us what you will do, Senator. And it's not like Obama's competing against McCain's sound energy policy, which consists of drilling on our continental shelf, a gas tax gimmick and a $300 million proposal for a battery.
We're waiting, Senator Obama, we're waiting. Blow us away with a radical new approach to energy that will make OPEC and Big Oil quake in their boots and sandals.
