Easily the cartoon of the week

It doesn't get much better than this. Like I wrote yesterday, it's too bad that civil servants no longer have the courage to put their asses on the line when they see something criminally inept, like the Bush administration's justifications (and execution) of the War in Iraq.

Better late than never, eh, Mr. McClellan?

He's laughing all the way to the bank, without question.

He's not a totally unsympathetic figure, however, especially watching and listening to just about everyone who is still under Bush's flag attack and vilify him. I'll confess, I'm definitely reading it... when it comes out in paperback.

Paul Szep - zomething different

I found this political cartoon on HuffPo today and loved it - it looks like I have another favorite political cartoonist to add to my list of many - Paul Szep. This one is spot on.

I just did a little reading on Szep and I'm kicking myself - where have I been? He only has two Pulitzer Prizes to his credit, but more importantly he's a hockey fan from Canada, and a Boston Globe cartoonist. Solid credentials. I wonder if he's an Oilers fan?

Anyway, about the cartoon - sage indeed, except that tragically, (!) McCain made himself look like a bumbling fool, AGAIN. I'll have more on that in a minute.

I had to share these - it's tough for me to pick a favorite among them, so I'm postin' all of them. I probably love the "Mission Accomplished" and the "Cut and Run" the best. Enjoy!

Newsweek's a comedy sheet this week

Am I the only one who thinks this cover is hilarious? North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il looks like he's at a football game between the Nukes and the Bombers, and he's got his official Nukes glasses on. This dude's a riot - first he gives his nuclear missile a name that resembles a sex toy (Taepodong-2), now the cool shades and the hairdo. Anyway, it's one of the funniest Newsweek covers I've seen in years, and I've been a subscriber for over 20 years.

This week, Newsweek has outdone itself. Not only is this the best "newsweekly" of the big 3, but it's mostly first-rate reporting is often juxtaposed with funny tidbits and quotes, along with some great commentary pieces, from both sides of the aisle (speaking of the latter I never miss George F. Will's column, and he's a staunch conservative.

But, what I like most are its political cartoons, and this week, all three had me roaring. Vandra actually yelled into the bathroom, "What are you laughing at?" Here they are - I don't need to write more about them - all three do a much better job at getting a point across much more effectively than I could ever hope to do. Enjoy!

I found this on the Web last night and I was laughing my ass off. Ahh, ya just gotta love the world of Photoshop we live in. These two boobs really are Bevis & Butthead.

I'm a sucker for political cartoons, and here's a serious one. It's from the October 9 issue of Newsweek Magazine...

It doesn't get much more succinct than that. I find it simply amazing that nearly six years after he left office, no matter the scandal or topic, if it looks unfavorably on this administration or the current version of the Republican party, people have the balls to blame it on Clinton.
